M O M M Y•≫fashion diary

Today was one of those days. I woke up early hoping to get the house all clean and de-cluttered, film a few videos for my youtube channel and perhaps squeeze in a quick pool sesh with kiddos.  My husband sent me a text that changed ALL that. MY DAY ended up consisting of having breakfast on the run with the kids while heading to the insurance guy to renew and get our new insurance policy. Had drive through McDonalds for lunch and snuck it into the DMV as we got our new tags for my car. Luckily I have friends there and they gave me an appointment ticket so we were called sooner than most people there. I then rushed home to get a very very very cranky daughter to her bed for naptime. This doesnt sound like a lot to most people but when you throw in a 7 urar old who has an opionion about everything!!! and an almost 2 year old that cant sit still and likes to scream VERY loud in public it geta hectic. The day is still youngish its about mid afternoon so I will try to squeeze in all those other activities I had originally planned for. I figured what better day to blog about my outfits and let you guys in on some real mommy talk/rants because lets face it this is real life as a mother and especially a mother of two during summer vacation with her kids.

Kaylee's Fashion Diary

Can we just start with O•M•G it has been forever since I blogged about Kaylee's outfits!!!!!!! I would like to quickly explain why....... She is N U T S!!!!!! They started becoming "chase the baby around the house" game. Not only that if she knew I wanted her to stand still for a photo she would go into full blown Taz mode and rip her hair bows off, take her shoes off and attempt to remove her shirt! I noticed the at home photos didn't work so last few have been outside while we play! Today while visiting grandma she found her stash of jewelry so she wanted her photo taken! She has been a handful to say the least but as a second time mother of a toddler I am not all that surprised! Hope you all have an amazing rest of your day and enjoy the pics!

The Birthday you never forget.

Lets take it back, wayyyyy back. I had just finished my 2nd semester of college with straight A's! Next thing I know I am pregnant and my life turned upside DOWN! I gave birth 2 months after I had turned 20 and quickly became a single mother by the age of 21. I spent years struggling to find my place in life , single and with a child. I often struggled with my own need to grow and be independent while also being there for Justin, keeping in mind he might be my only baby for awhilllllle (since I had started so young and not prepared).

I was able to stay home with him for 2 years and tried my hardest to cherish every single moment. This year I look at our lives and just cry because Justin and I have lived many lives together. More importantly in a realistic way grew up together!

The reason this birthday has been really hard on me is because something in him changed. He has become a big kid. He talks differently, he thinks differently. Heck he even walks different?! He is more aware of the world around him and NOTHING gets passed him. He can hold a real conversation and occasionally gives better advice than adults! He has become an amazing student and loves to read. And well he has changed.

As I sit here trying to write with huge tears rolling down my face . I tell myself well he grew up?!?? And its hard /happy/sad/joyful mainly sad because he was my first baby. I fought hard to give him a good life no matter  what  horrible and difficult circumstance life threw at me and I have so much I mean SO much to thank Justin when he is older because he changed   me and gave me the motivation and more importantly the determination to be a better person. So yes this is the birthday I will never forget for its when my baby officially grew up into a big kid! :)

Semi DIY Invitation idea for Kids

I used to watch a show on Food Network called Semi home cooked...or something like that. No clue if it still airs but seriously that show taught me a huge lesson! Sometimes you can take short cuts but still make something your own!

My eldest son is turning 7 in a few weeks and we decided on a circus themed birthday party! It is going to be his first birthday party with school friends so he is super excited!

Lately I have been using my personal facebook to invite our family and friends just because it soo much easier but since I had to make invites to give his school friends I decided I would go all out and give our family and friends an old fashion invite as well. So pathetic I know but with facebook it is seriously just a few clicks and I have an evite sort of speak. Anyways back to the invites I had looked on many other sites that make personalized invites and everything was so pricey. This is gonna be a huge birthday and I needed at least 40 invites so I decided to keep looking.

I have been OBSESSED with Etsy for about 3 years now so I went on Etsy and looked up Circus Invites and found a bunch of people are now doing digital copies. They personalize each card to your information and sell you a digital copy that they send via email for you to print as many invites as you need. This particular one I ordered from Lovepartyinvites: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Lovepartyinvites?ref=shop_sugg.

This was the first time I had ever purchased a digital file from etsy so I had SO many questions and Tirso the owner was very patient and kind and  answered all my concerns. It was super easy after purchasing I sent him all the personalized details needed for the party and within a day he emailed me a rough draft of what the invites would look like. After confirming with him that everything was correct I got my printable digital copy to start printing from home. I bought semi gloss paper and was able to print as many as I needed for the party.

I then thought it would be so cute to make a little envelope that explodes with confetti when you open it to really give it that circus surprise.

HOW to create an envelope effect:

Supplies:
-Tissue Paper
-String
-Washi Tape
-Confetti

1. I used gift wrapping Tissue paper and I cut one down the middle.  I placed the invite inside , filled it with confetti I purchased at target and folded in both sides of the tissue paper in. as shown in the photo.

2. I then got the tipes and folded them inward like triangles. sort of as if you were to be wrapping a gift and the steps you follow to fold in the sides.

3. Fold in the tips of the triangles both bottom and top.

4. Fold upward the bottom triangle and then the top over the bottom

5. use the washi tape to seal

6. tie the string into a bow.

I hope I explained that well I felt kind of retarded trying to work oragami. Anyways I am so excited to work on this party for my son . Having a circus theme is going to be so fun . I cant wait till the day of to share photos of his actual party its going to be so amazing.

•When your children are Sick•

Before I ever became a mother I would hear other mothers say "I cant make it my childs sick" and sometimes I'd roll my eyes and think hmmm ya nice way to use your kids. And while I still believe parents DO use this excuse to get out of things. When they are not using it as an excuse it is seriously a life stopper. Its hard to understand the concept of the pain a parent feels when there children are sick. My heart feels like it cant beat till I know they feel better. I suddenly become a nurse and do anything to help my children's pain go away. On Thursday morning around 4 am Kaylee woke up with a faint whine that as a mother YOU know isn't normal. When I got to her she was beyooond hot. I tend to go by instinct in the way I mother and knew her fever was beyond high and rushed for tylenol while her father is more factual and went running for the thermometer . She showed no previous symptoms of sickness so I blamed teething, naturally. It is now Friday 12 am and we are still battling this unknown fever. Which brought me to this post. I have my daughter asleep next to me. Which is rare as we do not co sleep but I cant help but have her here just to be able to comfort her. Our children are extensions of our heart and soul. Until you have your own child this feeling of overwhelming love and determination to make sure they are ok is so crazy to really stop and think about. Most days I am a robot and don't truly appreciate these feelings. This is what life is all about, I think.

Kaylee's Fashion Diary

Happy Friday ladies!!!! My husband has been working SO much lately and today he finally had the day off! While justin was at school we decided to have a solo day with Kaylee Belle! Wen't shipping for new beach cruisers ( sooo excited) and drove down to the beach. We started our trail in Santa Monica and ended up in Venice where Kaylee got to play in her favorite playground! I have been having a lot of fun this summer with Kaylee's style. The older she gets the more I can play with different styles! I am obsessed!!!

I also wanted to share with you guys my newest and greatest find!!! I seriously LOVE Instagram for allowing me to run across the cutest handmade headbands ever! She makes a few different styles and colors for Mommy and child! I bought the aztec print in the turban style! The quality of the fabric was amazing! I am already looking to get more in other colors and print!
